Our student-led symposium, The Author in Stylistics, was a huge success last week. Literary linguistics PhD students, Jess Norledge and Sarah Jackson, organised a fantastic line-up of speakers who presented papers on a wide range of discourse types, including poetry, drama, narrative, political discourse, and satire. The symposium took place on Tuesday 5th July and was attended by delegates from across the world.
Plenary lectures were given by Joanna Gavins, also from the University of Sheffield Literary Linguistics Research Cluster, Peter Stockwell, from the University of Nottingham, and Paul Simpson, from Queen’s University Belfast. You can see pictures of some of the talks below.
Many congratulations to Sarah and Jess for putting together such a stimulating programme and running the symposium so smoothly and professionally.
